What’s up with the name?

Pyles of Blood was started as an Discord community to play Blood on the Clocktower online. The group was founded by Dan Pyle, known to most simply as “Pyle.” Hence the name!

Ready to join us? Awesome!

Here’s what you need to know:

Playing with us in person

This is a list of upcoming games. We strongly encourage you to let us know if you’re planning to come. You’re welcome to drop in, but if you let us know you’re coming we can update you if there’s a last-minute change. The easiest way to do this is by emailing pylesofbloodbotc@gmail.com. You can also let us know if you’d like to be added to the SMS list or join our Discord server to stay up-to-date on our games schedule and special events.

Our expectations for players are

  • Come with a good attitude. It’s okay to lose, disagree, and just be plain wrong about what is going on. It’s the nature of the game. But we all play the game for the same reason—to have fun. Coming in with a good attitude sets you up for having fun yourself, as well as other players.
  • No personal attacks. It’s perfectly fine to needle someone’s argument, it’s another to call that person stupid, dumb, etc. It’s a team game, and we’re all on the same team when it comes to wanting to feel respected and enjoy ourselves.
  • Our games are for adults. Due to difficulty of the game and the mature language used in our group, we require all players be 18 or older to play in our games.
  • Be able to converse in English. There is no other language that enough of our players speak to run games in a different language at this time. (If you have a group of friends who are interested in playing in another language, let us know–we are happy to help you facilitate a game for your own group to the extent we are able.)

Playing online

At present, we are not running games online. If you would like to play online, please email us and we will provide you with a Discord invite to The Grim, another Blood on the Clocktower community that we love!

Storytelling

If you are interested in being a Storyteller (colloquially known as an “ST”) for our games, we are happy to get you there! Just talk to Pyle or Will at one of our games and we’ll discuss what your specific mentoring will look like. We do request that you have played at least 10 games with our group before running a game. This assures us you are familiar with all the mechanics of the game and gives you confidence in your decisions. Usually, the mentoring process will look something like this:

  • Play games with us
  • Storytell Trouble Brewing with an experienced co-ST
  • ST Trouble Brewing on your own
  • ST either Sects & Violets or Bad Moon Rising (or both!)
  • ST custom scripts, either your own or someone else’s

Merchandise

Once you’ve played with us a few times, you might decide you want to represent us and show the world your love of our favorite game! If so, you are welcome to browse the Pyles of Blood shop on Redbubble. If not, that’s fine too. We’d rather have you play and not wear a POB shirt than wear it and not play!
